John Cleese & Aqua-Firma in Cinemas

John Cleese, a Lemur & Aqua-Firma in a cinema near you!

We are a little bit proud to say that a photograph taken by Aqua-Firma director & photographer, Ralph Pannell, of a rare Cleese's Woolly Lemur (Avahi cleesei), will be appearing in a new John Cleese documentary movie to be released this month.

John Cleese Packs It In is a behind-the-scenes portrait of a comedy legend on the road. John uses this photo to express his passion for lemurs and their conservation; and his pride in having this particular lemur named after him.

Cleese's Woolly Lemurs are also known as Bemaraha Woolly Lemurs, which explains where they are found. Bemaraha is Madagascar's largest area of tsingy - hills made of limestone which have eroded into a complex network of caves, canyons and very sharp rock needles. Areas like these are impossible to farm, so lemurs and other species unique to Madagascar have found a rare refuge in these areas. They are also incredibly beautiful to explore, providing a constantly changing environment of high views over rock formations and a deep river gorge; to shady ravines where the tisngy and trees rise high above you.

To visit Bemaraha, you can join one of Aqua-Firma's small group or privately guided In Search of Fossas, Tsingy, Baobabs & Dancing Lemurs safaris.
