Spitsbergen & North East Greenland Voyages
Svalbard (Spitsbergen)
€5,590
(13-20 Days)
Spitsbergen is the biggest island in the Svalbard archipelago and the jewel of Arctic Norway, so is an appropriate name for this expedition vessel. After a complete reconstruction, MS Spitsbergen started its cruising career in 2016. She boasts high technical standards as well as comfortable, modern public areas and cabins. There is a Scandinavian design throughout the ship, reflecting a colour palette derived from the sea. This modern vessel is environmentally progressive with future plans to becoming more environmentally friendly to reduce emissions and fuel consumption even more.

There are inside and outside bar areas, a panoramic lounge, dining room and bistro. Ship facilities include a sauna, fitness room and hot tub as well as a guest launderette and shop.

The onboard expedition team conducts interesting lectures inside the ship as well as on the sun deck; topics depending on the season and the waters you are sailing in. They also host daily lecture programmes and evening gatherings. On deck passengers can participate in live points of interest to learn more about the nature, culture and other phenomena you might encounter along the coast.
The ship’s Science Centre is packed with state-of-the-art technology and gadgets including touch screens and science equipment. This is where guests and staff/crew meet, mingle, and create a deeper understanding of the areas you explore. The flexible venue features lecture spaces, a small library, and speciality areas for workshops in photography, biology, and more. Here you can join Citizen Science programmes and support real-time research and help to collect valuable data that will contribute to the conservation and understanding of our planet.
Onboard you will find a small but well-equipped fitness room with a treadmill, bike and weights – and even a ping pong table. In typical Scandinavian style, there is also a panoramic sauna and two open-air hot tubs out on deck.

The main restaurant Aune serves three meals per day, from buffet breakfasts, casual lunches and beautifully plated dinners inspired by the places you are exploring; expect seasonal ingredients, regional dishes and sustainable seafood all served in a relaxed atmosphere. The Brygga Bistro offers snacks and light meals between restaurant hours.
Your voyage on the MS Spitsbergen includes almost everything, from daily excursions to activities in the onboard Science Centre; meals onboard (in the Aune Restaurant); drinks onboard (tea, coffee, drinking water, house wine, beer and spirits at mealtimes and throughout the day (licensing limitations apply); no gratuities are expected onboard; waterproof jacket; and WiFi access. Optional extras will be charged to your onboard account such as additional excursions (e.g. kayaking); additional meals and snacks from the Brygga Bistro; premium drinks (e.g. top shelf spirits, vintage wine, Champagne etc); laundry and other personal purchases from the small onboard shop.
