Trip Reviews: Spitsbergen Tallship Sailing Photography Voyage

I have to say I had a fantastic time. The experience of sailing on the Antigua was one of the highlights of the trip. I can't praise the crew and the guides enough - they truly helped to make this a fulfilling and very memorable experience. And of course, what is there to say about Spitsbergen? I've done a fair amount of travelling in my life and Spitsbergen comes pretty close to the top of the A list. The two trips we made in the zodiacs to the glaciers were amazing and on both occasions we had almost perfect weather. We were also very lucky with polar bear sightings and we managed to approach one quite closely in the zodiacs.

All the passengers were amazed at the culinary miracles that the chef and the crew in the small galley were able to pull off. The food was always good and there was plenty of it. The Captain's Dinner was a particular highlight. I was also very impressed by the well stocked and very reasonably priced bar.

I enjoyed all the shore landings and I didn't miss one of them. The guides were very informative and very diligent in looking after our safety. I fired off a lot of photographs and I think and hope that I managed to capture some of the beauty and atmosphere of Spitsbergen. We had a bonus overnight stop tied up in Barentsberg Habour because of the weather and a few of us visited the coal mine. That was very interesting. Barentsberg is quite a surprise and I really enjoyed my short stay there.

I could go on, but needless to say I rate the holiday 5 star and I have no negative comments whatsoever. I'm still working through my photos!

Many thanks for all your help in organizing this trip. The flights arrangements were seamless and the hotels that I stayed in in Oslo and Longyearbyen were very comfortable and pleasant with generous breakfasts.

By the way, your recommendation to take a second camera along is a good one. One of my cameras failed on the second or third day out and I was fortunate to have another camera with me.

This trip to the Arctic was everything we hoped it would be and more.  Thanks to Captain Jo and his crew and Charlotte and Michelle were great as our guides, also for very interesting lectures.

Thanks to you all.

Wow, what an unforgettable adventure!

A massive thanks to Captain Jo and his fantastic crew for making us welcome onboard and for looking after us so well. A special thanks to our guides Charlotte and Michelle for sharing their love and knowledge of Spitsbergen.

I'm taking home so many happy memories of the stunning scenery, amazing wildlife and evenings spent singing and dancing the night away.

Best wishes to all.

Thanks you to the team for a fantastic voyage into land and sea that I had dreamt about for many years! I feel so lucky to have been able to see the amazing Arctic.  It's very hard to put it into words but my life has now been enriched by such beauty. I hope we can preserve the wildlife and plants for ever and ever.
