Bariloche Lake District Horse Riding

Our horseback riding experiences in Argentina’s Lake District, are based from lakeside stables at the foot of Mount Catedral. This is in Northern Patagonia, where rides can gain quick access to the forests, creeks and waterfalls of the Nahuel National Park.

We have a capacity of a maximum of 28 guests, which means that you can expect a personalised experience and a welcoming atmosphere. Horse riding here is limited to 7 guests per outing, with rides varying from the flat terrain of a valley, to more mountainous slopes and forest.  Each guest will be paired with a horse most suited to them and rides will set off in different directions, with routes providing for the level of expertise of the riders.  You can expect a high standard of equine knowledge, with some of the best trainers in the area.

Horses roam freely around the estancia, so guests can not only enjoy the riding experience, but get to know the different characters of the stable. On warm summer days it’s even possible to go riding and swimming with them in the lake.

Out of the saddle, there are plenty of other activities to keep you busy during your stay. The calm and sheltered waters of the bay make way for good kayaking and boat rides; meanwhile there are a number of interesting trails for self-navigated or guided treks.  This is also a fantastic area for bird watching, with opportunities to see Andean Condors, Chimango Caracaras, Magellanic Woodpeckers and Austral Parakeets.  Other activities on this holiday can include yoga, massage and fly fishing tours; and in winter, snowshoe walking and skiing.

The accommodation is divided amongst 2 houses and 3 private villas, decorated in a rustic yet elegant style, offering superb views.  Chefs serve both regional and international cuisine, focusing on balanced and healthy meals utilising home-grown produce and local ingredients.

Each full day you are at the stables, you will be able to participate in whatever combination of horseback riding, white water rafting, lake kayaking and trekking you want. The best way to illustrate these options is to click on the photos on this page, since they will expand for a larger view. It is best you let us know your preferences and previous experience when you book, so that we can help pave the way for an ideal programme for you.
