The most widely recognised of all the flora in the Seychelles is that of the mysterious Coco de Mer palm, which dominates the enchanted Vallée de Mai World Heritage Site.

Praslin is a particularly great island for bird watching, with an array of fascinating species found here.  The Seychelles Black Parrot is the republic's national bird and is most commonly found in the Black Parrot forest on the south eastern part of Praslin.

The Seychelles Blue Pigeon is particularly common, unmistakable by its dark blue plumage and bright red fore-crown.

The Seychelles bulbul is another common endemic resident to be found on the island, frequenting wooded habitats and imitating the calls of other bird species including the Seychelles Black Parrot and common myna.

One of the largest flying animals on Praslin is the Seychelles Fruit Bat, which is best seen flying above verdant forest at the Black Parrot Forest Reserve in the northeast of the island.

Other species of endemic wildlife that one can expect to see on Praslin include:
Seychelles Swiftlet (Aerodramus elaphrus)
Seychelles Sunbird (Nectarinia dussumieri)
Seychelles Tree Frog (Tachynemis seychellensis)
Seychelles House Snake (Lamprophus geometricus)
Seychelles Wolf Snake (Lycognathophis seychellensis)

Praslin is also home to:
Hawksbill Turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata)
Tiger Chameleon (Chamaeleo tigris)
Seychelles Kestrel (Falco araea)
