The hawksbill turtle nesting season occurs between the months of September and April, during which time, Cousine implements a very successful monitoring programme. The conservation team take regular walks along Cousine's beaches in order to record all females that emerge from the water to nest.

The data collected is used for comparison of previous years and is also used as a tool to help other islands with their turtle monitoring and conservation efforts. The 2010 turtle season resulted in record numbers of nests being laid. Up to 6 nests were reported to be laid in one day, while the previous record was only 3. Such encouraging data indicates great news for the future of hawksbill turtles.
