A voyage to the Polar Regions is a true wilderness and wildlife journey of a lifetime. Aqua-Firma's Polar Voyages to Arctic Spitsbergen, Greenland, Antarctica and the Sub-Antarctic islands of South Georgia and the Falklands are operated on some of the smallest expedition ships, sailing yachts and tall ships afloat. These vessels carry between 12 and 114 people, ensuring that your experience is intimate and memorable, with as much time as possible spent exploring on shore. Rigid inflatable boats are our landing craft and from motor ships we can use them to carry small groups to impressive glacier fronts, explore majestic icebergs and provide for close up observations of the incredible wildlife of the polar seas.
Our polar guides onboard are some of the most professional and personable available. These include former staff of the British Antarctic Survey, marine scientists, a former Director of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, wildlife experts, polar historians, geologists, in house and Leica Akademie photographers. Our specialist knowledge enables us to provide polar photography workshops onboard as well as offer unique experiences such as camping out on the ice, sea kayaking, snow shoe walking, polar sailing and even expert led scuba diving. Polar voyages are a major travel undertaking for most travellers, which is why we provide detailed information throughout the booking and preparation process. With our on-location experience we are also on hand to answer any questions you have and provide 24 hour support for clients who are travelling. Whilst we offer our voyages as stand alone experiences, we are a fully ATOL protected travel company and able to provide flights and accommodation before and after your voyage. For those travelling to Antarctica, we are a specialist at tailor made travel within Argentina and other parts of Latin America. For those travelling to Spitsbergen, we operate some excellent day trips which can fulfill the kind of experiences you are seeking in visiting the Arctic. These can include dog sledding, sea kayaking or energetic full day treks. For those travelling to Greenland, Iceland is always on the itinerary where we can add anything from an exhilarating day trip to a week's exploration of the country's dramatic tectonic scenery and marine life. Aqua-Firma’s heritage is one of marine and environmental science and conservation. Responsibility to protect the unique environments we visit is paramount. Climate change is one of the greatest threats to these locations which is why we automatically offset the carbon emissions of your voyage, as well as your flights getting there and back if booked through us. We do this through our Rainforest4Climate programme established with the charity Rainforest Concern. We have done this ever since the company was established and as far as we know, we are the only company that does.
