Island Hopping Yacht Safaris
Seychelles
2026 & 2027
Silhouette is home to the last known Seychelles sheath-tailed bats.
Silhouette was designated as a Marine National Park back in 1987. Ongoing efforts are being sought in order to establish funds which will subsequently contribute to the protection and management of the area.

It had been assumed since 1840 that all Indian Ocean giant tortoises had been exterminated, all except the Aldabran species. However, research conducted by the Nature Protection Trust of the Seychelles (NPTS) in 1997, concluded that two supposedly extinct Seychelles giant tortoises were in fact still very much alive. This incredible discovery prompted the Seychelles Giant Tortoise Conservation Project to be established, with the primary aim of rescuing two species from the brink of extinction. This pioneering project, which was established on Silhouette in 1997, has lead to successful captive breeding and the consequential reintroduction of tortoises into the wild in 2006.
Silhouette is home to a giant tortoise sanctuary, where visitors will be able to encounter these wonderful animals up close, some of which are over 120 years old.
