La Digue boasts some beautiful beaches, most notably Anse Source d'Argent, which is reputed to be one of the most photographed beaches in the world. The beach comprises of a number of small coves, separated by rocks and caves, consequently it is usually possible to find a private spot to relax and sunbath. The appeal of this beach is undoubtedly due to its crystal clear turquoise water soft white sand and the giant granite boulders that frame it. The warn azure waters here are shallow and calm, sheltered by the fringing coral reef, making it a fantastic place to swim and snorkel.

Another beach well worth visiting is that of Anse la Réunion, which is a stunning white beach which extends from the jetty to L'Union Estate on the western coast of the island.  Situated on the rocks beyond the beach is the La Digue Cross, which was placed there in 1931 by a Swedish priest to commemorate those who perished while attempting to land on the island.  The beach is a fantastic vantage point from which to observe the neighbouring island of Praslin.  Between December and February terns and waders are often spotted on this beach.

La Digue presents some very interesting snorkelling opportunities.  Snorkelers can expect to see turtles gliding elegantly alongside an array of beautiful marine fish in all colours of the rainbow.  In addition, dolphins and the occasional guitar shark and whale shark are often spotted.
