Diving in the Eastern Pacific is famous for its continued abundance of large marine species. The most famous of Costa Rica’s island sites is Cocos Island, which is one of the best places in the world to see huge schools of hammerhead sharks, whale sharks, manta rays and more.

Costa Rica’s near shore diving can also provide some excellent opportunities for sharks, rays, turtles, huge shoals of fish and coral reefs. Cano Island is also a superb place to see dolphins and migratory whales, whilst the Bat and Catalinas islands are best known for bull sharks and giant manta rays. The latter are in the Gulf of Papagoyo which itself can provide encounters with literally hundreds of golden mobular rays which migrate through the area during the Northern Hemisphere winter months.
